Double Tee Chess Board
Independent Project   |   Summer 2022
In Collaboration with Ryan King
This was a purely fun project that was thought of when working at Midwest Structure Engineering. In our spare time Ryan and I would think of cool things that we could make out of concrete. One of the ideas was to make a chessboard in the shape of a double tee. The process of making the double tees was modeled after how the tees are made full scale. The concrete is poured into a bed along with rebar mesh to reinforce the double tee. It took multiple attempts until I perfected the concrete mixture as well as the formwork to make the pattern. Overall, it was a good learning experience to physically build a concrete product while working at Midwest Structure Engineering.
