Roma House
Independent Project | Summer 2021
This house was inspired by my travels to Rome. While sitting at Roma Termini train station eating lunch I looked at the design of the train station and noticed this interesting looking cloister along the facade (pictured below). From this image I began to think about what they would use the space for and the first thought that came to mind was a porch. I then compartmentalized the colonnade and made a single unit which could then be converted to a dwelling unit. Borrowing the design from Roma Termini and Palazzo della Civilta del Lavoro I adapted the design for residential use that would contrast to typical city house while borrowing certain elements from the typical house to feel like a home.
