Tea Table
Independent Project | Spring 2020
This project was a quick and free exploration of different materials and connections. The idea of this project came from a spare slate roofing sample around the architecture office. After feeling the tactile qualities of the slate I could imagine the surface being perfect for placing ceramic mugs atop. The slate was a new material for me and I learned a lot about the material properties. Contrary to the feeling of the slate it was forgiving and easy to drill through with a ceramic drill bit. After working with the slate I went to the university wood shop and scavenged scrap wood to make the frame. Overall this was a fun project to explore different materials and connections without costing money.
