Three Frames

The concept for this project was to make a frame for a chair that could accommodate multiple seats and arrangements. The first frame was made out of wood which gave it a very beefy visual appearance which did not fit the aesthetic for the concept. For the second frame I used aluminum C channel to give an interesting profile on the frame. Here I used nuts and bolts to make the connections giving a quick and sturdy frame. For the last frame I experimented using a steel frame and welding. I used these three frames as a proof of concept from which I learned the material properties of each material. Out of the three frames I liked the aluminum frame the best due to the shape and size of the C channel as well as the weight of the chair. This project was also a good learning opportunity and chance to introduce me to the metal shop. After Learning how to weld I want to continue doing metal projects.
